planting seeds

Tuesday I started sprouting some seeds. This is one of my favorite things about the end of winter! (Cilantro, English Thyme, and Bloomsdale Spinach to be exact.)

Tomatoes and peppers are in about a week or so!

Like my 2010 theme, I’m going simple with my gardening. We have MANY farmers markets in the area. I’m just going to grow what’s easy for me and what we eat often and the rest I can buy local.

My Gardening In Indiana book said I was supposed to start those seeds on March 1st. But I’m not perfect… and neither are my gardening skills. (what an understatement! ask me about my garden last year! yikes. But I blame a summer pregnancy…it killed my garden about half way through the growing season.)

Here’s a look at the current state of our gardens. Resting. Waiting.

This will be my 3rd season of doing a square foot garden. I can’t wait to see all the fresh growing fruits and vegetables!!!

Can't wait to start mine. What soil did you use for your sprouting?

I could drool over your bare ground, Sarah =) I've been tempted to ask the kids to take a yardstick out to the big garden, but I'm guessing there's at least 12 inches of snow on top still.
So, probably a late spring here 😉
