Unwrapping my Tuesday much later than usual. Some days are like this. I plan, schedule and line up our day to run smoothly and efficiently… intending to be flexible. I’m growing into a go-with-the-flow mentality. Today, after a rough five minutes of things not going as I intended this verse came to mind with new meaning:
A man’s heart plans his way,
But the LORD directs his steps.
Even in the small things, the LORD is directing my steps. Today my plans to go to the grocery store this morning were foiled. (no seats in the van) But I’m thankful our fridge and cupboards are not bare.
Since the kids were bundled with shoes and coats playing outside seemed logical. Immediately realizing it was much too cold for bare heads and hands I quickly found the pink and blue gloves and hats. With a deep sigh, I returned outside to find my two year old knee deep in a small mud puddle in the garden. (Her second wardrobe change- the first outfit and a green smoothie did not get along.) I’m thankful she has plenty of clothes, more than she needs.
This season I feel Him smiling.
The van seats were removed because we were blessed with a free couch and love seat. These were not on our priority list and completely unexpected! The Lord smiles on us.
May the Lord bless you
and protect you.
25 May the Lord smile on you
and be gracious to you.
26 May the Lord show you his favor
and give you his peace.’ (NLT)
This afternoon my four year old son asked me to dance with him. I’ve never seen him dance before or even talk about it. I stopped all was doing and danced with him for the whole song. The Lord smiles on me.
When my multiple wardrobe changing two year old woke up from her long (the Lord smiles) afternoon nap she asked me to hold her in her ring sling. She still loves to be close to me. She wants her arms inside and to be cinched in tight while she lays her head down. The Lord smiles on me.
