Shoo… that was one quick Fall! This season I had a short little list, so let’s see how it did…
Book Club Books
Velma Still Cooks In Leeway by Vinita Hampton Wright: CHECK. I truly enjoyed this Christian Fiction novel. (not a common genre for me) I was surprised by some of the plot twists and would read another by Wright for sure!
A Year in Provence by Peter Mayle: no check… well… a quarter-check I guess. This was our December book club book. I was so busy getting the book club Christmas party ready I didn’t get a chance to finish the book!! Next year’s December book I’m planning on reading during the summer. (I do plan to finish it. The 3 chapters I did finish were excellent… one day I’d love to travel again… one day.)
Emma by Jane Austen: CHECK. I “read” this as an audiobook. Now I’m all set for March with the book club! I still say Persuasion is my favorite Austen book but this makes my top 6 favorites of hers. 😉
Books To Finish
Grace for the Good Girl by Emily P. Freeman: CHECK. Loved this one. It’s like she was writing my life. Really. I’m a poster-child Good Girl. Have you read this one? Did you feel the same way? I’ve heard so many people read this and feel like she read their journal. Freeman really has a unique book here, unlike any I’ve read or even heard of. I highly recommend it!
The Ministry of Motherhood by Sally Clarkson: CHECK. Can’t go wrong with a Sally Clarkson book. Love her wisdom and encouragement. I’d also love to go to one of her conferences next year! We’ll see if I can get that worked out.
31 Days to Finding your Blogging Mojo by Bryan Allain: CHECK. This is one I’d like to read again soon! (Yep, it was that good!) I read it before I went to Relevant (a Christians woman’s blogging conference) I think I need a refresher now that I have a new vision for my blog rolling around in my head.
The Lamplighter by Maria S. Cummins: no check. I’m a huge supporter of Lamplighter Ministries. I just haven’t got around to getting back to this one. I am anxious to get back to it… this is the book Mark Hamby read and and then decided to named the ministry Lamplighter! Fun fact: In 1850 it outsold The Scarlet Letter ten to one!
Other Books Read
The Help by Kathryn Stockett: CHECK. This is our January book for book club, another audiobook “read” for me. I haven’t seen the movie yet, but it seems to be pretty popular. Great book! Excited to chat about it next month!
For my short list and this Fall that included our move, a conference and my sisters wedding I think I did pretty good. I call it a success!
Check out the others who’ve been busy reading this Fall!
