Recently, I starting thinking about how to combine two of my favorite things… books and essential oils.
Here’s a little bit about how I paired them at our annual book club dinner party.
This was our fourth annual book club dinner party. (The first year we didn’t think to have this brilliant and tasty event.)
Bread & Wine by Shauna Niquiest
Valor: an oil blend of Rosewood, Blue Tansy, Frankincense, Spruce, and Almond oil to help you be brave; to instill courage, confidence and self-esteem.
If you have had the pleasure of reading Shauna’s book you might already see how this combo pairs nicely. Being the introvert that I am inviting others to join me at my table sounds wonderful in my head… but actually pulling it all together makes me shake in the knees.
I need a little dose of courage and confidence to prepare my heart, home and food for others to gather with our family. I know it shouldn’t and doesn’t have to be the perfect scene that I dream. I’m still working on that.
Now that our littlest one is mobile there is a good chance if you come over the floor will be clear of stray legos and tiny hello kitty figurines. But I can’t guarantee the couch to be clear of the last stack of laundry waiting to be carried upstairs or a pile of blankets in the corner from last week’s living room fort.
In my head, when friends or family gather at our table the kids don’t complain and they clean their plates. In my head, the baby doesn’t want to nurse right as guests are arriving and pots are ready to boil over. In my head, I always remember to have another drink besides plain.old.water.
But if all went perfectly life might be a little too boring. And I wouldn’t really be inviting others to share in our life. They wouldn’t get to hear our six year old make up his own jokes or our four year old tell you all about her day at 2x speed without taking a breath or see our the six month old scrunch his nose and give you a big nerdy 3 toothed smile.
If you haven’t read Bread & Wine I recommend picking up a copy. Then roll on some Valor and gather friends to around table.
