Day 21 – Resources for Inspiration (part 6)

The Book Lover’s Cookbook
Recipes Inspired by Celebrated Works of Literature, and the Passages that Feature Them

Today’s inspiration combines two awesome things: Great books and recipes! Use these recipes to go all-out and prepare a whole meal around some of the great books your club has read… or prepare some recipes from future books your club is going to read and use them as a way to reveal what books are coming up!

Who wouldn’t love to feast on Turkish Delights like Edmond did. (AND as many as he did!! Well, maybe not as many!)

Or some of Pooh’s Honey Kisses: “Pooh always liked a little something at eleven o’clock in the morning, and he was very glad to see Rabbit getting out the plates and mugs; and when Rabbit said, “Honey or condensed milk with your bread?” he was so excited that he said, “Both,” and then, so as not to seem greedy, he added, “but don’t bother about the bread, please.” – A.A. Milne, The Complete Tales of Winnie-the-Pooh.

How about serve some of Anne Shirley’s infamous Liniment Cake… minus the anodyne liniment of course!

You might not be a fan of yams until you’ve had them with Mammy’s touch. “Some folks think as how Ah kin fly,” grumbled Mammy, shuffling up the stairs. She entered puffing, with the expression of one who expects battle and welcomes it. In her large black hands was a tray upon which food smoked, two large yams covered with butter, a pile of buckwheat cakes dripping syrup, and a large slice of ham swimming in gravy, Catching sight of Mammy’s burden, Scarlett’s expression changed from one of minor irritation to obstinate belligerency. In the excitement of trying on dresses she had forgotten Mammy’s ironclad rule that, before going to any party, the O’Hara girls must be crammed so full of food at home they would be unable to eat any refreshments at the party. -Margaret Mitchell, Gone with the Wind

I could go on and on, as this book offers almost 200 literary inspired tasty treats! I hope this inspires a yummy book club meeting for your group!
