Joining Anne at Modern Mrs. Darcy for her Twitterature Link-up

Wow, last time I joined in for the Twitterature post we had 10 inches of snow on the ground! Now let’s get straight to the point:

Here are a few tweet-like thoughts/comments/reviews of my favorite books I’ve read …since MARCH! (Poor neglected blog.)

Bread & Wine: A Love Letter to Life Around the Table, with Recipes: #bookclub book for our annual dinner party! I think almost everyone has read this book already… if you haven’t #goreadit 5 stars. Yes, our book club read 2 food memoirs. NBD we make our own rules 😉

Crossing to Safety: ‘nuther #audible ‘nuther #MMDrecommendations 4.5 stars. #MMDknowsbookstoo

There you have it, about 5 month’s worth of my favorite recent reads. Have you read any of these?

I’ve been in a big reading slump lately. Summer time, still adjusting to life again with a baby, starting homeschooling… so it’s been great stuff distracting me, buuut Goodreads tells me I’m 7 books behind my scheduled goal for the year. Best get a-movin! So many fun ones lined up… plan to get back on track.

Find me on GoodReads to see what’s in my queue and which ones I’m working on currently.

I loved the Guernsey Literary and PPP Society: it’s unusual, being entirely in the form of letters, but so funny, touching, and interesting. I also hope to read The Distant Hours b/c I loved The Forgotten Garden.

I should just move up The Forgotten Garden on my list… so many highly recommend it! Let me know what you think of The Distant Hours in comparison.

  • Sarah Caldwell

You read so many great books, Sarah! I wrote down your 2 book titles on Paleo eating – I’ve heard good things about them from MMD & Simple Mom Blog. Great post!

Thanks!! I’m a late-in-life-learn-to-love reader so I search around for readers who have similar tastes at me and only read books they highly recommend… I figure this raises my chances of always reading a books I will love! 😉 So far it’s working for me!

Loved Guernsey; I may have to re-read it one day. Had to laugh at #rockingthebaby as much of my days right now are #babywontsleep and @doesntliketoberocked; enjoy those precious moments while you’ve got ’em!

  • Moira @ Hearth and Homefront

That’s exactly how I feel about Guernsey!!! I practically walk anyone who hasn’t read it straight to the library to check it out. I need to add a bunch of these to my Goodreads list…I really need to read one of Morton’s books (finally!) and I’m really curious about Paleo!

So many good books here! I loved the Guernsey book and Jayber Crow. I haven’t listened to an audio book in years, but you’re right, that one is such a great story that I bet it’s wonderful in that format. I actually started Bread and Wine months ago but never finished it because I bought the e book and apparently I’m just not an e book person! I did really enjoy it though.

  • Allie Rasmussen

I love Bread and Wine! Read it with some girlfriends and we are going to have a party and each bring a dish from the book. Now I just need to figure out what to bring….
